Aged wood veneer is particleboard with solid oak wood edges veneered with raw-effect sliced veneer. The special surface treatment sets off the wood grain and makes it perceivable to the touch. Any differences in shade are mere expressions of wood as a living material.
They can never be considered as defects, rather as distinguishing qualities of wood. The aged natural oak surface is treated so that it MODERATELY repels grease and grime.
The varnishes used are water-repellent and non-yellowing which is why it is advisable to avoid abrasions and the vicinity of hot objects.
To clean surfaces in aged oak do not use products containing acetone, alcohol, ammonia, thinners, abrasive detergents or furniture wax. Oily solutions, candles, ink, milk, citric acid and by-products irreparably damage aged oak surfaces.
